  Malaria

All it takes is ONE bite! 3.2 billion People live in areas of risk for malaria infection. Every year more than 200 million people are infected and over 2 million die from malaria. The most vulnerable groups are:

  • Young children without protective immunity to malaria.
  • Pregnant women with decreased immune systems.
  • Travellers lacking immunity against malaria.

Malaria is a serious and often a fatal parasitic disease. Infections caused by Plasmodium falciparum should receive prompt treatment or it may be fatal.

The current gold standard for a diagnosis of malaria is a peripheral blood smear under a microscope in a laboratory. However, trained staff and quality equipment are expensive and not always available in remote areas where malaria occurs. An alternative cost-effective screening test for the parasitic disease is a rapid diagnostic antigen detection test. It requires no special equipment or trained staff and can be performed anywhere
 at any time!

U-Test Malaria is an easy to use, accurate whole blood test to detect all four malaria parasites P.falciparum, vivax, ovale and malarium.
The U-Test Malaria test is designed for rapid diagnosis of malaria in laboratories, at home and for medical kits when travelling in malaria endemic areas.

  U-Test Malaria

  • Whole blood rapid diagnostic screening test for antigens produced by malaria parasites.
  • Multi - parasite test qualitative test - tests for all 4 types of malaria including the deadly P. falciparum parasite.
  • Fast results - within 5 -10 minutes.
  • Easy to use – one step test that requires no special equipment, test anywhere and at any time.

  HIV

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is the virus that causes AIDS. This virus may be transferred from one person to another when infected blood, semen or vaginal secretions come in contact with an uninfected person’s skin or mucous membrane. In addition, infected pregnant women can pass.
According to a joint press release from UNAIDS and the World Health Organization in November 2005, the number of people living with HIV / AIDS globally exceeds 40 million with over 3 million deaths caused by HIV / AIDS. Most infected people are unaware of their HIV / AIDS status as they look and feel healthy. Do you know your status?

The gold standard for the diagnosis of HIV / AIDS is a laboratory HIV antibody test. The disadvantage of sending a blood sample to a laboratory for HIV testing is that you will usually have to wait for a few days for the results and the patient needs to return to the healthcare professional’s office or clinic setting to receive the results. Rapid HIV / AIDS antibody tests offer a prompt, definitive screening test for HIV in the healthcare professional’s office or clinic setting. It is even easy enough for you to perform the test yourself.

Rapid HIV / AIDS antibody tests are also very useful for the diagnosis of HIV / AIDS infections in rural or isolated areas that are far removed from diagnostic laboratories and where patients often cannot afford to come back for the test results. The availability of easy to use rapid diagnostic HIV screening tests increases the access to mass screening with the added advantage of a test results at the time of the consultation.

U-Test HIV / AIDS is an accurate whole blood screening test to detect HIV 1/2 (Aids) antibodies.
