Humor Diagnostica offers state-of-the-art diagnostic assays backed by fully automated award-winning equipment that not only allows for improved diagnostic decisions but also provide superior quality while curbing health care costs.
The company provides a broad range of immunoassays namely RIA (Radio Immuno Assay), ELISA (Enzyme Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay) and Luminescence including CLIA (ChemiLuminescent Immumo Assay) to the market. All assays answer to accreditation standards by carrying the CE mark and most are FDA approved. Humor Diagnostica are able to offer products to satisfy the needs of routine and highly specialized laboratories including research institutions.
A vital part of the business is the quality of service provided to customers through up-to-date technology and highly qualified, dedicated marketing and technical staff.
1. B·R·A·H·M·S
In 1999, Humor Diagnostica acquired the exclusive agency for B·R·A·H·M·S products.
B·R·A·H·M·S is a European biotech research company located in Berlin, Germany that researches, develops and produces new diagnostic test procedures to improve diagnosis and the treatment of life-threatening diseases. The company uses its own patented biomarkers to bring about medically and economically superior diagnostic know-how for patients and users. Biomarkers are biochemical laboratory tests for the early detection and monitoring of diseases.
The company was established in 1994 and in 2009 B·R·A·H·M·S became part of Thermo Fisher Scientific. B·R·A·H·M·S focuses on the research of new biomarkers. Its core competence is in the detection of sepsis, thyroid and tumour diseases. B·R·A·H·M·S products have customers in around 70 countries and are leaders in their specialized markets.
In the year 2000 B·R·A·H·M·S acquired the Kryptor equipment from CIS-BIO. The Kryptor is based on the Nobel Prize winning TRACE (time resolved amplified cryptate emission technology) technology. The Kryptor is the gold standard in the field of prenatal diagnostics, including First Trimester Down Syndrome screening, and the first system to meet the requirements of the FMF.
For the next years, special opportunities for the company will accrue from the new patent applications for the sepsis marker Procalcitonin (PCT), the development of a 2nd generation PCT and the entrance into the field of the early diagnosis and treatment control of heart diseases.
2. DiaSorin S.p.A.
The DiaSorin Group is headed by DiaSorin S.p.A. and is an international player in the market of in vitro diagnostics. Specifically, the DiaSorin Group is active in the area of immunodiagnostics, a market segment that encompasses immunochemistry and infectious immunology.
DiaSorin products are distinguished by their high technological and innovative content. The group consists of 22 companies based in Europe, in North, Central and South America and in Asia and it also uses an international network of more than 60 independent distributors. In 2004, Humor Diagnostica was appointed as the sole DiaSorin Distributor in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
DiaSorin manufacturers assays for a number of diseases including infectious diseases, bone and mineral, hepatitis, HIV, cancer, heart, pulmonary and fertility. DiaSorin offers these markers as manual assays (ELISA and RIA kits) and as fully automated assays (Liaison).
In addition to the development, production and marketing of immunoreagent kits, the DiaSorin Group supplies equipment that when used in combination with the reagents makes it possible to carry out the diagnostic investigation automatically. Specifically DiaSorin offers two types of equipment: the ETI-MAX system for products that are based on the ELISA technology and the LIAISON system that handles products developed on the basis of the CLIA technology.
In 2008, DiaSorin strengthened its leadership as a supplier of specialty products for in vitro diagnostics by acquiring Biotrin, an Irish Group, the world leader in the diagnosis of maternal-fetal infections caused by Parvovirus.
3. IBL-International
Since 1983 IBL International (IBL-Hamburg) have been engaged in the development, production and worldwide distribution of in-vitro diagnostic test systems for routine and research use. IBL offers an extensive range of RIA, ELISA and luminescence products for special diagnostics use or “niche” products. Most products are designed for manual use, but also readily adaptable for use in open automated systems.
The IBL product range contains more than a 1,000 products covering diagnostic fields like endocrinology, catecholamine, neuroscience, tumour markers, hypertension, cytokines, adhesion molecules, autoimmunity, immunology and infectious diseases.
Recently IBL entered a completely new diagnostic area developing quantitative steroid tests for saliva. As most conventional tests use blood that requires the samples to be taken by a medical professional, the new saliva based tests offer the advantage of easy and non-invasive sampling and allow repeated sampling over a period of time.
IBL products are sold worldwide through an international distribution network and in North and parts of South America through subsidiaries. In 2009, Humor Diagnostica was appointed as an IBL Distributor in South Africa. |
